What is Anxiety?

The truth is, anxiety isn’t something wrong with you. It’s something happening for you. Your body’s way of saying, I don’t feel safe right now. In a world that moves faster than our biology evolved to handle, our systems rarely get the chance to switch off. Constant notifications, expectations, and uncertainty keep our motivator hormones active, leaving little time for recovery. Over time, this nervous system dysregulation becomes the background hum of anxiety.

UNDERSTANDING ANXIETY

Anxiety is a survival response

SURVIVAL RESPONSES

Your body creates urgency when it senses disconnection from the things you need to feel safe and well.

THE LIMBIC SYSTEM

How the emotional brain prioritises safety and survival.

MOTIVATORS

Understanding stress hormones like cortisol and adrenaline.

GRATIFIERS

Why dopamine, serotonin, and connection matter so much.

Anxiety shows up when your body is trying to protect you. It’s the nervous system on high alert scanning, predicting, preparing. You might feel it as racing thoughts, a tight chest, restlessness, or that constant hum of unease beneath everything you do. Sometimes it makes sense – a big life change, a difficult situation. Other times it feels like it comes from nowhere, and you wonder why you can’t just “calm down.”

MY APPROACH TO ANXIETY

SAFETY

Help your body remember what calm and safety actually feel like again.

AWARENESS

Understand the patterns beneath anxiety rather than feeling controlled by them.

SELF REGULATION

Learn practical ways to settle your nervous system and move out of survival mode.

LASTING CHANGE

Build an internal sense of steadiness that continues beyond the sessions.

PRACTICAL QUESTIONS

WHAT KINDS OF ANXIETY DO YOU HELP WITH?

General worry, overwhelm, health anxiety, panic patterns, social anxiety, intrusive loops, and the sense of “being constantly on alert”.

DO I HAVE TO KNOW THE CAUSE OF MY ANXIETY?

There are five stages of addiciton recovery, No. Most people come to me unsure why they feel like this. We explore it gently together.

WILL YOU HYPNOTISE ME?

I use non-state hypnosis you stay fully aware and in control. It’s closer to deep focus than “going under.”

HOW MANY SESSIONS WILL I NEED?

It varies. Some people feel shifts in a few sessions; others prefer longer support. We move at your pace.

DO YOU WORK WITH HEALTH ANXIETY?

Yes very often. We work with the nervous system rather than trying to “argue” with thoughts.

WELCOME

Welcome to my website, a space where I try to catch your eye, and explain the heart of my practice.

My journey over 17 years has taught me that true knowledge isn’t about the letters after my name or the timeline of my academic pursuits (though you can read more about them here). It’s about the stories shared, the moments of vulnerability, and the human connection that transforms both you and me. It’s holding space, listening intently, and noticing the patterns within your words and emotions. Together, we can navigate the complexities of life, embracing both the shadow and the light. So, if you’re seeking more than just a quick fix, and ready to make lasting changes, you’re in the right place. Let’s embark on this journey together. Please keep scrolling to read some of my blog posts on anxiety or click and read more about my approach here.
