Hypnotherapy for Addiction

Modern life constantly stimulates the motivator hormones. The ones that push us towards action, craving, seeking, doing. Our ancient biology evolved for short bursts of stress and long stretches of rest. Today, we live in the opposite: long-term stress, constant stimulation, very little time to reset. When your system is overwhelmed, substances and behaviours that bring temporary relief can feel like the only way to feel ok again.

RETURN TO BALANCE

Addictive patterns often develop when life feels overwhelming. Therapy can help your body and mind settle out of survival mode.

SAFETY

Real change happens when the nervous system feels safe enough to stop searching for relief in the same old ways.

UNDERSTANDING

Together, we explore what the behaviour is trying to protect you from – without shame or judgement.

RECONNECTION

Addiction can disconnect us from ourselves, our bodies, and other people. Therapy helps rebuild that connection.

RESTORATION

Recovery isn’t about taking something away. It’s about creating a life that feels nourishing enough that you need less escape.

MY APPROACH TO ADDICTION

SELF-TRUST

Reconnect with the quieter, steadier part of yourself that already knows what you need.

AWARENESS

Understand the patterns beneath the addiction, instead of staying stuck in cycles of shame or self-blame.

SELF REGULATION

Learn how to calm your nervous system rather than feeling controlled by urges, emotions, or stress.

LASTING CHANGE

Change becomes something you do with yourself, not something forced onto you from the outside.

PRACTICAL QUESTIONS

WHAT ADDICTIONS DO YOU HELP WITH?

Alcohol, food, phone use, nicotine, cannabis, narcotics, recreational drugs, compulsive loops, emotional reliance and dopamine-driven habits.

DO I NEED TO BE "READY TO QUIT"?

There are five stages of addiciton recovery, I have time to work through them all with you. Providing you also have capcaity for this my only requirement is a curiousity about why the pattern exists in your life.

IS ADDICTION A LACK OF WILLPOWER?

No. It’s usually a nervous-system loop trying to meet an unmet need.

HOW DOES HYPNOTHERAPY HELP?

We create space between the urge and the behaviour, and explore the pattern beneath it.

IS HYPNOSIS SAFE?

Yes – you remain fully aware and in control.

WELCOME

Welcome to my website, a space where I try to catch your eye, and explain the heart of my practice.

My journey over 17 years has taught me that true knowledge isn’t about the letters after my name or the timeline of my academic pursuits (though you can read more about them here). It’s about the stories shared, the moments of vulnerability, and the human connection that transforms both you and me. It’s holding space, listening intently, and noticing the patterns within your words and emotions. Together, we can navigate the complexities of life, embracing both the shadow and the light. So, if you’re seeking more than just a quick fix, and ready to make lasting changes, you’re in the right place. Let’s embark on this journey together. Please keep scrolling to read some of my blog posts on addiction or click and read more about my approach here.

What is my addiction actually doing for me?
