WHAT IS MEDITATION?

Meditation as a Tool to Heal

Meditation has been used for centuries as a tool to heal, in more recent years Krishnamurti has spoken about meditation as,

“not something you do or experience, nor can it be learned from another. It is not concentration or contemplation. There is nowhere to get to, and movement of the mind in any direction, with any purpose, is not meditation but is time-bound, rooted in the known.”

Krishnamurti spoke of meditation as being directly connected to our everyday activities and is only possible with order in our daily life. It is not the mindfulness practices commonly taught, the watching of the breath or repeating a mantra. Believing instead that meditation comes naturally when there is the understanding of the whole process of thought.

Is Meditation Religious?

Meditation is not a religious practice, and whilst it can slot directly into a spiritual practice, spirituality is not required. What you may find is a correlation to Maslow’s hierarchy of needs as you move closer to self-actualisation. Self-actualisation is,

“the realization or fulfilment of one’s talents and potentialities, especially considered as a drive or need present in everyone.”

Relaxation?

A meditative state does not require relaxation, and neither is relaxation meditation, however during these classes, due to their nature, you are likely to feel deeply relaxed. You will find the day’s stressors evaporate as you experience a completely new depth of feeling.

 

WHY DO I NEED A CLASS TO MEDITATE?

These classes are a guided meditation, in the traditional sense, to begin your journey to understanding the whole process of thought in a modern world. Meditation alone can be challenging to begin with. The expectation of being able to utilise it to its full potential is difficult, achieving an understanding of the entire process of thought, almost impossible.

Juliet will guide you on a journey that will bring a deep connection within. You will begin the process of feeling in control of yourself. As you become experienced with using meditative practices you will be able to bring them into your life to reflect, grow and learn. The tool of meditation will be something you can use daily to make positive changes in your life. You will no longer need to rely on others to assist you in these changes.

HOW MANY PEOPLE ARE IN A CLASS?

Due to current restrictions there is a limit of three people at each class. In normal circumstances there will be five. Please book your space quickly now to ensure that you do not miss out on this carefully crafted experience.

With such low numbers the class will feel intimate and personal. Together we will create a community of support and wrap our arms around each other whenever we feel the calling. I am always contactable and can support you individually if individual circumstances require. We will decide as a group whether you prefer group or individual support throughout the week, between sessions. However, all meditations covered within the sessions will be available for you to download and listen to outside of the class.

Qualifications

Juliet qualified with a diploma in Clinical Hypnotherapy and Psychotherapy in 2008, in 2017 she complimented that with a MSc in Consciousness, Trans-Personal Psychology and Spirituality.

Experience

Starting her practice in The City of London and then working in Harley Street for a number of years, Juliet now focuses on the local area to be closer to her young family. Alongside her therapy work Juliet holds workshops around the country teaching other hypnotherapists.

Intuition

Juliet likes to work intuitively, combining techniques learnt over the years with the potential of her clients to successfully help people move away from their problems and live the life they deserve.

Holistic

Juliet works in a humanistic way using her expert knowledge of consciousness to combine hypnosis with mindfulness, trans-personal psychology, and psychotherapy. Hypnosis is a natural state of mind, characterised by intense focus on one thing with a reduction in awareness of everything else. Some people feel an altered state of consciousness, but this does not mean it is an unknown state of consciousness.

Mindfulness is exactly what it says on the tin, being mindful. Those who practice mindfulness aim to be completely mindful of themselves and their actions, it can be thought of as total awareness. This is something that takes a lot of practise and achieved through regular meditative practise. Meditation and hypnosis are the same state of mind. The terms are interchangeable depending on the use. Hypnosis is more often solution focused whilst meditation concentrates on acceptance. Juliet can guide you into the state of mind necessary for either a solution focused experience or to achieve the mind body connection required to live mindfully.

As a transpersonal psychologist Juliet subscribes to a two-way process. The relationship between the two of you is most important. Considered equal and connected, you share the experience and take the journey together. In conjunction with an analytical stance Juliet has empathy and insight. Transpersonal psychology views people as unlimited in ability. Everyone can achieve greater potential. Taking a humanistic approach Juliet focuses on self-development, growth, and responsibilities so that you can recognise your strengths, creativity and choices.
