Everyone enters a hypnotic state unknowingly every day. Before you fall asleep and as you wake up you enter the hypnogogic and hypnopogic states. However many people enter the deep state of relaxation that is hypnosis in many other situations. Whilst driving – how often do you arrive somewhere and wonder how you got there? Whilst at work – ever catch yourself staring into space for seconds but on looking at the clock realise it was minutes? Watching TV – ever had a partner/friend tap you as they had been talking to you but you could not hear? This relaxed state is hypnosis, a deep concentration on one single thing. A qualified hypnotherapist can show you how to achieve this relaxation and use it to your advantage. With some work you may be able to create a positive change in your life. Hypnosis is the tool that will help you to get to where you want to be. I will guide you into hypnosis – something that you will later learn to do yourself. Whilst in this heightened state of mind I will speak with you to help achieve the result you want. One
of the biggest myths associated with hypnosis is that there is a
hypnotised
feeling. Although there are different depths of hypnosis all you will
ever feel
is very relaxed. Your awareness will if anything increase and you will
think,
speak and react as normal. I use many different techniques within a
session,
some of which are detailed below. On many occasions however my clients
just
want to chat, get an impartial view and use the session to really get
to know
themselves and take back control of their life. I always ask my clients
for
honesty during the course of therapy and find that the best way to work
is as a
partnership. Although I am here as a guide and will use my knowledge
and
experience to create a successful outcome at each session I always make
sure my
clients are aware that it is their session and we will always work in
the way
that they want to. Hypno-analysis A
free initial consultation in which we will discuss intensively your
problem
and your desired outcome will be followed by six - twelve sessions of
hypno-analysis. I will guide you in to the extremely relaxed state that
is
hypnosis and ask you to tell me whatever comes into your mind. By
remembering
one event after another your thoughts will eventually lead you back to
incidents
and emotions from your past.
There
may be one specific incident that is causing your problem today or
there
may be cumulative trauma. Either way it is the release of emotion as a
mature
person and the fitting of these incidents into the correct place that
allows
your symptoms to disappear. Hypno-analysis is a hugely specialised
therapy so
you will be guided and looked after throughout by myself, a qualified
therapist
trained to give you the best care in this sometimes vulnerable
situation.

Cognitive
Behaviour Therapy is a way of talking about how you think about
yourself, the world and other people and how what you do affects your
thoughts
and feelings. CBT can help you to change how you think
("Cognitive") and what you do ("Behaviour") to help you
feel better. Unlike some of the other talking treatments, it focuses on
the
"here and now" problems and difficulties. Instead of focusing on the
causes of your distress or symptoms in the past, it looks for ways to
improve
your state of mind now.
